Dewaxing of oils and oil filtration units: high point of a large-scale maintenance campaign

Almost simultaneously maintenance works began at «Dewaxing of oils unit No.1» and «Oil filtration unit». Within limited time many complex operations were carried out aimed at increasing the reliability of those facilities, optimization of production processes and scaling up their efficiency. The repairs were completed on schedule.

Installations «Dewaxing of oils unit No.1» and «Oil filtration unit» are two links of one technological chain. These objects play an important role in the production scheme of Naftan. They are located one after another, and looking at the process itself — on the finish line of oils and bitumen production facilities. Due to these factory giants oil components and wax concentrate are produced for the lubricant compounding unit where the production cycle encircles and the end products is obtained.

Great and thoughtful work with people is the basis of a strong team. The contribution of each person is important in the upgrading of systems that ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment of complex technological facilities of a petrochemical enterprise. The head of «Dewaxing of oils unit No.1» is ready to talk a lot about his team which today counts more than fifty people. There he says everyone is professional and like-minded. The strength of the production fraternity helps a lot in work, especially when complex and responsible tasks are solved. Now they were associated with large-scale repairs at the unit.

Repair work was carried out in the regeneration and crystallization departments, filter, pump, vacuum and refrigeration departments on blocks A and B. According to the results of the audit and diagnostics made by the industrial safety service the focus was on the devices of column and tank type, machine and pipeline equipment. As a result, over 10 devices were upgraded, replaced 7 piston pumps, 2 ammonia receivers. More than 80 sections of the technological pipeline were rejected. It was «eaten up» by corrosion and erosion while working under steam and with oil products. Damaged areas of metal «arteries» were replaced with the new ones.
